Beneath the Surface Speaker Series – Wellington Management

“The fireside chat with Soo Ho was a delightful blend of light-heartedness and insightfulness. It was interesting to hear how Wellington incorporates ESG analysis into their investment philosophy and process (P&P), whether it is to seek out or avoid investment opportunities. In doing so, Soo Ho provided various examples across different industries and regions, which helped us to better understand Wellington’s P&P.

As I covered the auto industry over the summer period for SMU SI’s Virtual Portfolio Initiative, I was eager to find out more about the intricacies and trends within the automotive industry while also integrating ESG considerations. Soo Ho not only provided some fresh perspectives but he also ignited my enthusiasm to expand my knowledge and explore the sector further. For example, Soo Ho shared about the change of leadership at Hyundai which impacted the company’s governance and corporate strategy. The integration of these ESG factors is helpful in analysing companies as a whole.”
