The Sustainable Investment Summit (SIS) 2024 is SMU SI’s large-scale physical event with a focus on sustainable investing. This three-part event aims to introduce the concept of sustainable investments, deepen the students’ perception of how sustainable investments work, and offer guidance on how one can pursue a career within this exciting space.

SIS 2024 Guest of Honor

Mr. Georg Kell, Chairman of Arabesque Group, leads a tech firm using AI and big data to assess sustainability for investment decisions. He advises global leaders on sustainability and transformation. As founding Director of the UN Global Compact, the largest corporate sustainability initiative, he spent three decades launching initiatives like the Principles for Responsible Investing, Responsible Management Education, and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges.

Loh Boon Chye

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) | SGX Group

Mr. Loh Boon Chye has been the CEO of Singapore Exchange (SGX Group) since 2015, with over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, including senior roles at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. He has been instrumental in advancing Southeast Asia’s capital markets and holds key leadership positions, such as on the Board of GIC Pte Ltd and Chair of the World Federation of Exchanges. Mr. Loh also leads SGX's sustainability efforts and serves on various advisory boards, including the UN Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative and GFANZ’s Asia-Pacific Network.

Rajeev Kannan

Managing Executive Officer, Co-Head Asia Pacific Region | SMBC Group

Rajeev Kannan is the Managing Executive Officer and Co-Head of the Asia Pacific Division at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) since 2022, overseeing their Asia Pacific operations. With nearly 30 years of experience, he has led corporate and investment banking, structured finance, and green finance, making SMBC a top player in infrastructure and sustainable finance. Rajeev is passionate about sustainability and serves on multiple boards, including the Singapore Green Finance Center. He previously led Corporate and Investment Banking for Asia Pacific and was the first non-Japanese executive at SMBC's Tokyo head office. He is a 2019 IBF Distinguished Fellow Award recipient and currently resides in Singapore with his family.

Managing Director, Head of Sustainable Finance & Investments (ASEAN) | HSBC

Mr. Kelvin Tan is the Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Finance and Investments for ASEAN at HSBC. He specialises in integrating sustainability into financial products and corporate governance. He drives HSBC’s ESG strategy and navigates complex financial regulations, and to enhance HSBC’s sustainable finance offerings. Currently, he chairs the IBF Sustainable Finance Industry Workgroup, co-leads Singapore Sustainable Finance Association’s Transition Finance Workstream, and serves as a board member for Pentagreen Capital. He is also an active contributor for the Singapore Green Finance Centere, the MAS-IBF Sustainable Finance Job Transformation Map Steering Committee and GFANZ APAC Network’s Workstreams on Managed Phaseout of Coal Power Generation in APAC and on Southeast Asia Policy Engagement. Before this role, he worked at leading financial institutions including Citibank and JP Morgan where he managed MNCs across industries in Singapore and Asia Pacific.
